Step 2
¶
-
Use your fingernail to get underneath the battery cover latch. Proceed to remove the battery cover.
-
Be careful as this type of spring-clip is part of the cover itself and can break easily.
-
The plastic tabs at the bottom of the cover and the corresponding slots on the GameBoy unit must line up during re-assembly.

Step 4
¶
-
Pay close attention to the proper orientation of the batteries prior to insertion. This is clearly labeled inside the compartment.
-
After fresh AA alkaline batteries have been inserted correctly, replace the battery compartment cover with care.
-
Always use fresh batteries when replacing old ones. Never mix batteries as explained why in detail here: http://www.ehow.com/info_8523093_not-two...

Step 5

Outer Case
¶
-
Remove the 6 screws on the back of the Game Boy system with a #00 Phillips Screw Driver.
-
Some Game Boys may have tri-wing screws securing the back case, rather than Phillips.
-
-
Place these screws in a safe place.
-
Be careful with these screws as they are easy to strip, and if this happens, they are almost impossible to remove.
