Nexus Q NFC Antenna Replacement

What you need

  1. Nexus Q NFC Antenna Replacement, Taoglas PU18 Wi-Fi Dual Band Antenna: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Squeeze and pull to pop the cap off of the Nexus Q.

  2. Nexus Q NFC Antenna Replacement: step 2, image 1 of 2 Nexus Q NFC Antenna Replacement: step 2, image 2 of 2
    • Disconnect the taoglas Wi-Fi Dual Band Antenna by prying with a spudger.

    • Once the antenna is disconnected, simply pull it off the outside of the inner dome.

  3. Nexus Q NFC Antenna Replacement, Inner Dome Daughterboard: step 3, image 1 of 1
    • Undo the ZIF connector by prying with a spudger.

  4. Nexus Q NFC Antenna Replacement: step 4, image 1 of 1
    • Use a T10 Torx screwdriver to remove the four 1.3 mm screws holding the inner dome in place.

  5. Nexus Q NFC Antenna Replacement: step 5, image 1 of 1
    • Use a T6 Torx screwdriver to undo the three 0.8 mm screws holding the inner dome daughterboard in place.

  6. Nexus Q NFC Antenna Replacement: step 6, image 1 of 1
    • Use a spudger to disconnect the daughterboard from the ZIF connector.

  7. Nexus Q NFC Antenna Replacement, NFC Antenna: step 7, image 1 of 2 Nexus Q NFC Antenna Replacement, NFC Antenna: step 7, image 2 of 2
    • Use a spudger to pry out the NFC antenna.

    • The antenna has two layers; be careful not to pry the two layers apart.
