Land Yachtz Longboard Kingpin Replacement

What you need

    • Use a 3/8" socket wrench, adjustable wrench, or skate tool to take off all 4 of the screws holding the truck to the board.

    • Use a skate tool or a 1/2" socket wrench to remove the wheel nut and take the wheels off of the truck.

    • Take off the first nut securing the axle of the truck to the kingpin.

    • Remove the axle of the truck from the truck fastener.

    • Remove the second nut securing the kingpin in place.

    • Remove the faulty kingpin from the truck.

    • If the kingpin is stuck in the truck, firmly hammer it to get it loose.

    • Be careful not to hit your hand with the hammer. If your finger joints are placed in an awkward position, even an accidental hit from the hammer can cause injury.

    • Insert the new kingpin and hammer it in if needed.

    • Be careful of your fingers when hammering the kingpin back in. Injury can result from even a glancing hit.

    • Put the nut that secures the kingpin back in place.

    • Put the axle back on the truck and kingpin.

    • Put the final nut back onto the kingpin to secure it to the axle.

    • Tighten the nut on the kingpin using a 9/16" socket wrench or skate tool.

    • Reattach the wheels to the truck using the 1/2" socket wrench or skate tool.

    • Reattach the truck to the skateboard using Phillips #1 screwdriver and 3/8" socket wrench or skate tool to screw the nut back on the screw.

    • Be sure that the kingpin is facing the end of the board when putting the trucks back on.

Conclusion

Test out your longboard and make sure that you can tighten and loosen the trucks effectively. Take it for a ride and make sure that turning works as you expect it to. If the problem persists, double-check to make sure that everything is put on correctly and the nuts are all securely fastened.
