Step 1
—
Outer Case
¶
-
Remove the 6 screws on the back of the Game Boy system with a #00 Phillips Screw Driver.
-
Some Game Boys may have tri-wing screws securing the back case, rather than Phillips.
-
-
Place these screws in a safe place.
-
Be careful with these screws as they are easy to strip, and if this happens, they are almost impossible to remove.
Edit
Step 6
¶
-
Once the headphone jack is detached it will dangle by the wires attached to the main circuit board. Do not worry about the connections, they are solid and will not break.
-
Remove the two screws that hold the main circuit board to the casing. Use a Phillips #00 Screw Driver. This will allow access to the connection points of the headphone jack.
Edit
Step 8
¶
-
The connections to the headphone jack are on the main circuit board. You can fix it by removing those connections and replacing them with a new headphone jack.
-
The other connections are on the circuit that contains the headphone jack. The connections can be severed here too, and a new circuit with headphone jack can be replaced.
-
These connections are desoldered and re soldered with the new component.
