Removal of the Canon A610 front, back and side cover.

In order to get to the internals of the Canon A610, we first have to remove the plastic casing around the camera.

Add Note Edit Step 1 — Batteries  ¶ 

  • Slide the tab on the battery door to the right while simultaneously sliding the door towards you. The door should pop open.

  • Turn the camera over and allow the batteries to fall out.

  • Insert new batteries.

  • If fixing any part of your camera, skip installing new batteries and continue.

  • Close the battery door.

Add Note Edit Step 3 — Camera Housing  ¶ 

  • Locate and remove the three 3mm screws attaching the side panel to the body of the camera.

  • Remove the side panel by using your fingernails to pull the panel towards you.

  • Remove the two remaining 2mm screws attached to the frame of the camera.

Add Note Edit Step 4  ¶ 

  • Remove the 3mm screw closest to the lens of the camera and the 4mm screw near the back of the camera.

  • Open the battery door.

  • Locate and remove the four screws inside.

  • One 5mm screw is located on the top side of the bottom cover.

  • The other three 6mm screws are located at the bottom of the battery compartment.

  • Close battery door.

Add Note Edit Step 6  ¶ 

  • Open the 'DIGITAL AV OUT' door on the camera.

  • Remove the three 4mm screws.

  • Detach the 'DIGITAL AV OUT' door and its cover.

  • When putting the camera back together, leave the topmost screw out until AFTER the top casing has been put back on.

  • Grip the sides of the top cover and gently pull up until the top cover comes off.

  • The top cover does not completely detach.

Add Note Edit Step 8  ¶ 

  • Open the battery door.

  • With the shutter and bottom facing towards you, pull the right side of the front casing out and towards your body.

  • This may require some force but be careful not to break the plastic.
