Installing iPhone 4 Verizon 5-Point Pentalobe Screws

This guide has been found to be exceptionally cool by the iFixit staff.

Replace the 5-point Pentalobe screws with Phillips screws on your iPhone 4 Verizon.

Apple has substituted the two bottom Phillips screws near the dock connector with 5-point "Pentalobular" screws.

This guide will illustrate how to replace the Pentalobe screws with good ol' regular Phillips screws.

Before we proceed, let's make sure you have the correct tools for the job.
iFixit's iPhone 4/4S Liberation Kit includes:
- One 5-Point "Pentalobe" screwdriver
- One #00 Phillips screwdriver
- Two 3.6 mm "Liberation" Phillips screws
Are you ready to break the shackles of hardware oppression and liberate your iPhone? Let's rock!

Use the Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.6 mm Pentalobe screws near the dock connector.
The 5-Point Pentalobe screwdriver should only be used a limited number of times because it has the potential to strip the screws.

Peel and remove the two 3.6 mm Phillips screws from the iPhone Liberation Card.
Both the Phillips and Pentalobe screws are really small. How small? See for yourself (highlighted in the second picture).

Insert the two 3.6 mm Phillips screws into the screw holes using the provided #00 Phillips screwdriver.
Huzzah! Your iPhone should now be liberated from those pesky "Pentalobular" screws.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
