Remove the 6 screws on the back of the Game Boy system with a #00 Phillips Screw Driver.

• Some Game Boys may have tri-wing screws securing the back case, rather than Phillips.

Place these screws in a safe place.

Be careful with these screws as they are easy to strip, and if this happens, they are almost impossible to remove.

Gently separate the front and back of the system, taking special care not to damage the ribbon cable connecting them.

Once you can see the ribbon cable, move the screen side down a little bit to expose the ribbon cable connector.

Grip the ribbon connector with your thumb and forefinger, pulling gently until the ribbon connector comes out of its socket.

The pieces should be completely separated and appear as shown in the image.

Note the location of mounting screws for the circuit boards.

After taking removing the outer case, look only at the front section. This is where the LCD screen lies.

To get to the screen which is on the opposite side of the circuit board, remove the 10 screws that connect the board to the outer case. Use a Phillips #00 Screw Driver.

Use a plastic opening tool to remove the circuit board from the front part of the external case.

Be careful and go around the outside edge until you can easily remove the circuit board.

At this point you may consider to just replace the entire front circuit board, as this may save time and money. Also it can be very tedious to replace the screen and may be easier overall. Otherwise continue with the guide.

Set the plastic outer case aside. Before you flip over the circuit board to reveal the screen, undo a few hooks on that side of the board that hold the screen in place.

DO NOT YET ATTEMPT TO PRY THE SCREEN FROM THE CIRCUIT BOARD

Flip the circuit board to the front with the screen and remove the two screws holding the screen to the circuit board. Use a Phillips #00 Screw Driver.

The last thing holding the screen to the circuit board are two surface mount attachments.

At this point if you are capable enough to desolder these surface mounts and then resolder a new screen (same model and components) go for it.
