    • Disconnect the black (negative) cable from the battery to disable the electrical connection.

    • Always disconnect the negative cable before the positive cable.

    • Disconnect the red (positive) cable from the battery to disable the electrical connection.

    • Pull the fuses out and make sure that they were not blown.

    • Undo and remove all wires from the amplifier.

    • This should include the battery wire, ground wire, speaker wires, remote wire from the radio, and sound wires that also come from radio.

    • Remove and check the fuse from the amp to make sure it is not a blown fuse.

    • Strip the wires so they can have a better connection.

    • Twist the exposed copper wiring to make it easier to connect to the amplifier.

    • Tighten the clamps all the way down.

    • Wiggle and tug on the wires to make sure they are secured nice and tight.

    • The red wire should go to the positive side, and the black wire should go to the negative side.
