I followed the instructions and ended up with a left over handful of screws, so I took it apart again and ended up only with three screws left and an inoperable disc drive. Help please. Ms Syd Harper

the front shield on the iBook G4 has many screw holes, they are easy to miss and nothing bad comes from leaving a few out.

Check the 3 screws on the right under the keyboard that hold the upper cover in place, if you put long screws in stead of the short ones it can distort the disk drive.
