The purpose of this guide is to instruct on how to remove damaged speakers in order to replace them with new ones.

The speakers are the main audio output for the laptop. Due to overuse or loud music, speakers are easily "blown out", but just as easily replaceable.

Add Note Edit Step 1 — Removing the Top Panel  ¶ 

  • Tilt the computer screen all the way back until you can easily access the power panel.

  • Use the plastic prying tool to gently pry the panel off.

  • Next, locate the four Phillips screws on the keyboard and remove the screws using a #00 Phillips screwdriver.

  • Lift the keyboard up and disconnect the white cable underneath to remove the keyboard completely.

  • Once the keyboard is removed, you will see the metal EMI shield.

  • Remove one Phillips screw.

  • Take off the panel.

  • Once the metal EMI shield is removed, you will see the data display cable attached to the remaining panel.

  • Remove this cable by simply, but gently, pulling straight up on the tab.

  • Next, to remove the screen, locate the two hinges beneath the LCD panel.

  • Remove the four screws that secure the hinges, and remove the screen by pulling perpendicularly to the computer body (straight up).

  • Now to remove the remaining panel, locate these screws:

    • 2 on the back edge of the laptop

    • 2 right below the screen

    • 16 on the bottom side of the laptop

  • Unscrew all of these, but remember to place them in labeled bags, so as not to confuse them.

  • Once these are off, gently lift up the upper panel.

  • Lastly, unplug the white cable located underneath the mouse pad.

  • Locate the speakers near the front of the laptop.

  • Locate the wires attached to the speakers.

  • Follow along the wires and unfasten them from the hooks, boxed in red.

  • Follow the wires to the plug near the front of the panel.

  • Pinch the wires close to the plug between your thumb and index finger.

  • Pull the wire straight up until the plug disconnects.

  • Now remove the speakers from the case.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
