Dell XPS 17 9710 Battery Replacement

Introduction

If your Dell XPS 17 9710 is not powering on, not staying on when not connected to the charger, or is not holding a charge for very long, you may need to replace the battery.

Before following this guide, first try using a new power cable. The power cable might be dead.

Before beginning, make sure to completely power off the device.

What you need

    • Remove eight 5 mm screws from the back panel using a T5 Torx screwdriver.

    • Use the opening tool to loosen the panel on all sides and then lift it from the device.

    • Remove seven 3 mm screws securing the battery using a JIS #1 screwdriver.

    • Use the spudger to detach the battery connector from the motherboard.

    • Gently unplug this attachment.

    • Remove the battery from the laptop.
