CCD image sensors collect, store, and transfer electrical charges from between elements.

One of the most common problems with this camera comes from a defective CCD imager. It goes through every step to remove and replace the defective CCD to a new CCD.

Add Note Edit Step 1 — Back Cover  ¶ 

  • Remove the three Phillips screws (shown) from the bottom.

  • Open the door to the CF memory card slot. Open the door by sliding it towards you and swinging it open.

  • Remove the CF memory card, if it is in the camera.

  • Remove the Phillips screw (shown).

  • Remove the Phillips screw (shown) located inside the top of the memory card compartment.

  • Open the battery compartment door by sliding the latch to the right and pulling the door down.

  • Remove the batteries from the compartment.

  • Unscrew the three Phillips screws (shown) located inside the battery compartment.

  • You can now remove the top of the camera, being careful of the fragile mylar cable that connects it to the main body of the camera.

  • Taking off the top cover takes a little bit of force. Do this gently. There will be a snapping sound.

  • The door to the memory card compartment also will be freed and can be removed.

  • Remove the lower Phillips screw (shown) from the side of the camera.

  • Open the little rubber door below this screw that covers the connectors.

  • Open the LCD screen and pivot it to its fullest open position (shown).

  • Remove the rear cover by pulling it straight away from the body of the camera.

  • You're done!

  • When reassembling the camera, remember to replace the screws in the same location from which you removed them. Otherwise you may damage the camera.

Add Note Edit Step 8 — Front Cover  ¶ 

  • Now remove the top screw 3.3 mm long on the side of the camera that hold the side panels and the front cover using the #00 screwdriver.

  • Gently remove the side panel of the camera by pulling it away form the camera.

  • The side panel may get stuck on the internal wires, so gently wiggle this panel loose.
