What you need

  1. Acer Aspire 5100 Hard Drive Replacement, Battery: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Make sure the laptop is turned off and unplugged.

    • Flip the laptop over so the audio jacks are facing you.

    • Unlock the battery by sliding the button (located above the battery) towards the outer edge of the computer. When you feel the battery release and pop up, gently pull the battery from its compartment.

    • Start by locating the small panel directly to the right of the battery.

    • Remove the two screws securing the panel.

    • Grip the right side of the hard drive and pull towards the right side of the computer

    • Remove the mounting bracket from the old hard drive.

    • Transfer the mounting bracket to the new hard drive and install the new drive.
