iPod hit a magnet

Reply by Mash4077

My iPod got stuck on a magnet, after which it would not turn on. It showed a message to plug into i Tunes to restore, but the restore was unsuccesful. Does this mean the hard drive is fried? Anyone got any ideas or experience? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the magnet was attached for any length of time, it may have magnetized the metal of the Pod. If it did, then it would constantly have issues. Can you check to see if it might have gotten magnetized?

It was only on the magnet for about five seconds. The first restore was unsucessful, and now it does not show up in i-tunes at all so I cannot even try another restore on it. When it is turned off, it will turn on when plugged in to the USB. When it is turned on it says to connect to i tunes to restore, but it never shows up as being connected. Any guesses?
