Iphone 3g water sensor on the bottom

Reply by flombone

I am having some common problems with my iphone 3g like dropping calls and freezing. The mac store seems to be replacing phones for these problems and i went to the mac store and the lady noticed that there was the tiniest little bit of pink in the corner of the sensor and would not take take it back based on this fact.

Does anyone know how i can make the bottom sensor white again, so i can return it and get a freshie.

Thanks

ps. i was thinking bleach and a syringe, but i am not sure?

I am not sure on this type of sensor but silicon gel will turn pink in the presence of moisture. You may want to try to put the it in a low humity place and see if it will turn back white. Don't use excessive heat. The temp should not exceed 100 F. You just need to raise the temp a little to drive off moisture. It may need a couple of days at a temp of 100 F. Also no direct Sun light to heat it up.

That is rediculous! The white layer that used to be (until you got it wet) is above another layer that has red dye in it. When you get it wet it releases the dye that moves to the white layer turning it red. Short of removing the indicator, nothing you do will change that. Take some responsibility for damaging it.

If only the corner is pink, it shows that the iphone was not dropped into water. If this was the case the entire sensor would be pink. I would take it back to a different person. This I would request to speak to the store manager and use the above argument. Good Luck.
