I am trying to fix a computer for a friend. The model is a black macbook, 2.0 ghz, late 2006.
For some reason unknown the battery will not charge and displays "not charging" and an extremely faint green light on the magsafe.
I first replaced magsafe i/o w/ no luck.
I read on ifixit forum to try replacing the battery connector/sleep sensor. My question is this, the sleep sensor on the computer works. When i close it, it goes to sleep? Could one of these two functions (sleeping) and not (charge the battery) still work without the other?
So I first bought an "energy star" magsafe connector, which the website said was for my model and production date. When I did the teardown, I realized that there was no "energy star" stamped on the logic board.
Is this an honest mistake made by ifixit? Or could this be a mistake made during production @ Apple. Causing the the computer to eventually malfunction as it did? Futhermore, If there was an "energy star" battery conn. in my mac (which is clearly not an e-star" which should I install? e-star/non e-star?
If this does not work, is it safe to say that it is something w/ the logic board?
Thanks, Jordan
