From what i can find it seems to be ram related, but i have tried known good stick and both slots. when i remove the ram completely i get one beep still no display. any known tricks to try without buying a new board. bad solder joint or something on the ram slot . i have not quite received ninja status but i am pretty good with a soldering iron

well i hit it pretty good 2 or 3 times with the old toothbrush with no luck still. it gives me 1 beep without the ram and 3 with the ram so it is bound to be sensing something is there. any other suggestions before it get ebayed?

1 beep - no ram detected
3 beeps - bad ram in slots
try some new ram, or just try 1 stick in alternating slots.

I have the same problem with my Powerbook G4 12 inch. I haven't touched the Ram for years. Not sure if there is any connection, but I just did a security update and this is the first time I have started it after the update.

Powering of a computer requires the Pram battery to activate the keep alive portion of the HD. When this happens it start and check the RAM of the computer, when the RAM fails your dead in the water and nothing will happen from there on. Get yourself a known good stick and try booting your computer.
