Hi I referred to the macbook unibody assembly to disconnect the keyboard connector because i wanted to disable it. When I disconnected the connector, closed everything up and tried to turn it on, it wouldn't. The battery indicator works but the macbook won't turn on. Did I do anything wrong?

IIRC the power switch feeds through that same ribbon cable. With the keyboard disconnected the power button can't connect to the logic board.

Thanks for your reply Ralph. I'm wondering, what if I turned it on and then disconnected the cable somehow? Until I get an external keyboard that is. It is really important for me to have access to my computer in the next few days.

My concern would be damage to the logic board disconnecting that connector while powered up. Personally I would not do it. Also the external keyboard will not be able to power on the computer. Ralph

Liquid spill? Why would you want to disable the keyboard?
As long as you don't twist (cross or short) the connector you can pop it out while the box is running (I've done this hundreds of times to no ill effect when testing/diagnos

Thank you very much machead3. I've done what you told me and have been using my iPhone as a keyboard since. That became really annoying so today I went out and bought an apple keyboard. Now I plug it in and nothing works on the keyboard except the volume controls. I hate using my dad's computer because all my school stuff is on mine. Any thoughts? My internal keyboard is still disconnected and I don't want to connect it again because the shift key is always pressed.
