Hi, I need help on my Powerbook G4 1.67 Ghz A1138. It started when my laptop is stopped charging until it drained the battery. When I opened it, I saw some melted lead inside the DC board. I decided to replace the DC board and to my surprise still it is not charging the battery or even opening the laptop. The previous DC Board gives me an orange light at the tip of the charger but does not give power to the laptop or charge the battery, while the new DC Board does not even give me any light. What do you guys think is the problem of my laptop? Is the new DC board not working or something else? Hope you guys can help, I'm getting frustrated. I have experience working replacing and rebuilding ibooks so I do have some experience in taking apart carefully.

Hi there, the exact same problem, also change the DC board, and nothing....i try a replacment charger from "Macally" brand and nothing,I borrow a charger from a friend(he got the same Mac as I do) and...bingo. back on track. Also recover the sound from the speakers that were dead from 6 monthes or so(new DC board working).
I guess the old DC board were going down and were taking the charger with it, and that you need to get an original charger to test it.
I think it all comes from the overheating that hapens in this area so i am buying a spetial laptop holder with fans on it,good luck.

thanks for the reply, i'm still hangin in here with my PowerBook hoping someday that it will work again. just an update, i have replaced the logic board with a refurb that is guaranteed to work. so right now the PowerBook has a new dc board, a working logic board but still not a thing happened when you press power. when the charger is plugged, the light around it turns yellow-green but no power on the logic board nor charging the battery. I will try what you have suggested and get the other charger from the office first thing tomorrow morning. again thanks and i appreciate it a lot. regards
