how do i bypass password lock to open up my mac powerbook i just bought at a pawn shop?
There's a couple of ways they are all rather involved...
You'll need an OSX install disk.
Start by changing the RAM. Either remove or add a stick, so the previous RAM amount is altered.
Then ZAP the PRAM - hold down - command+option+P+R on reboot. Wait for at least 3 "chimes", then let go. It's not just a matter of changing the RAM, but changing it, then immediately zapping the PRAM.
On the next boot hold down option-command-f-o (Frank Oscar) to reset the NVRAM On the screen that appears type reset-nvram, hit return, then type ''reset-all, hit return.''
After that, immediately shut down the machine, reset the RAM to it's default slots, and this is the essential step! boot with the option key down,
Choose the install CD and you should be set for a erase and/or re-partion install, or a restore.
Good Luck,
N.
