Help! Unidentified leftover parts from my late 2008 MacBook Pro!

I replaced the optical drive in my MacBook Pro (late 2008) with a hard drive sled. Later, when I cleaned up my workbench I found two leftover pieces -- when I found them the black one was inserted into the metal clip, but not sure which end.

The MacBook Pro is great, although soon it would no longer recognize it has an Airport Extreme installed. I added a nubbin to replace it. I do not think the Airport card is connected to these two leftover pieces as I believe the Airport initially worked.

I put the photo of the parts here Hyperlink

If anyone can identify:

1) What the function of these pieces in (can't see any place to plug the black part into)

2) Where to put it back in my MacBook Pro.

It may be that these parts were needed for the optical drive I removed, but can't see a place to plug them in on that either.

looks like the metal piece is a bracket that probably held something down and as for the black piece your on your own

I'm wondering if the black piece is a jumper. A friend suggested that. I think the metal piece probably held the optical drive down, and now wouldn't be needed with the drive sled.

was there anything going into or coming out of it? I couldn't tell if there was something like that from the pic
