iPhone 3GS Home Button Repair -- HELP!

Flag Reply by bound4h Nov 3 @ 11:42 AM

I recently had water splashed on my 3GS and the Home button started flaking out afterwards (i.e. sometimes it would work, sometimes not) and now it doesn't work at all.

Two questions:

1) Has this happened to any of you guys, and what did you do to fix it?

2) If I buy JUST the Home button from ebay or anywhere, can it be extracted and replaced? I heard from RapidRepair that there are two plastic prongs that hold it in and it cannot be taken out. If that's true, do I have to replace the entire front panel?

Thanks,

Mike

maybe you shorted out that area of the logic board (sounds unlikely but you never know with electronics...) or you just shorted the homebutton... sounds like you need a new front panel

Anyone else have an issue with the Home Button or know how to replace it?
