How risky is replacing a MacBook Hard Drive?

Well i just did exactly that replaced my 80gb with a seagate 320gb...the mechanics went fine, but now I can't get the computer to recognize any internal HD...whether i switch back to the 80 or not...very frustrated, must be an easy answer...i can hear the disk spinning, and the data and power are one cable, so don't know why the processor can't see it...

If you're not careful you can pull connectors off the logic board - killing it.

Read the DIY and follow directions about wiggling not yanking on connector point/ribbon cable.

Word to the wise -- when reinserting the tray with the new drive, be sure the correct side is facing up. I slid mine back in upside down, scraped something, and goofed up the usb on my machine. Ugh.

Thanks for the responses. I went ahead and swapped the drive and everything seems to have gone just fine!
