I just had the inverter cable on my laptop replaced but the screen is still very dark. I can make out the display but I have no backlight. What could be the problem? I was hoping something was just knocked loose when I dropped my macbook and I wouldn't have to spend anything more. Could the backlight lamp be it? And how do I fix it?

It sounds like your problem is the backlight. It is possible for the cable or a poor solder joint to become loose and not turn on the backlight.

agree with bad lcd - the backlights are fragile and dropping your laptop is a great way to break it.
