To playback video directly from an iPod Classic to a television set, unless I'm mistaken, you have to buy a special dock with a video-out capable jack. The output jack on the Classic does not support video output as far as I can tell.

Is there a cable I can buy that will plug into the Classic's output jack and playback video on my television?

If not, can I replace the current output jack with a different jack that supports video output?
