5th gen 30gb Ipod video

just replaced battery and now only get sound out of the right side of the earbuds. I was very careful when I replaced the battery. Did I somehow damage the headphone jack?? I took the case back apart and couldn't see anything obvious wrong with the headphone jack. Is it that easy to mess up when you just change the battery??

thanks...

Hi,

maybe you pulled the headphone cable a little bit out of the connector while installimg or reasembling your iPod. Check the connector of the headphone cable on the main board and the headphone cable that they really fit.

Hi,

when the hard drive makes a clicking noise plus the screen says "very low battery" it most likely means your hard drive is damaged. In one case it was not the hard drive itself, the hard drive cable was broken.

Hi,

you wrote in another thread that you dropped your iPod. That plus the clicking sound most likely means that your hard drive is damaged.

is there a way to fix a hard drive or jus have to buy a new one

Reply reply by Crisb

Hi,

there is no way to fix the drive because you dropped it and that means it is physical damaged like a head crash.

The only way is to buy a new/used/refurbished hard drive. How to do so is described in the repair section of this page.

Hi,

I just replaced the battery in my 5th gen 30gb ipod video. I've been trying to charge it repeatedly, and it never gets out of the red. I can play music with it just fine. (Although I've been playing it just for a few seconds to test it.) I've also rebooted the ipod—it does seem like it takes a little bit longer than usual to boot. I've never dropped this ipod and the hard drive is not clicking unusually.

Thanks,

David

Hi,

when you click on another button you can feel the "click", can you also feel the click when pressing play?

Maybe just the play button is defective, like the small black spot on the logic board slid to one side and you press play without really pressing play.
