I'm confused about which hard drives are compatible with my machine. What's the difference between SATA, Ultra ATA, IDE etc? What's the max hard drive capacity my machine will take? There seems to have been two versions of the 15" 1.5 in the same year. I'm not sure what the difference is and I don't know which version mine is. Do they both take the same spec hard drives?

They take ATA/IDE/PATA Interface drives, sata drives wont work for them.
320 gigs is the max that is available for an ATA laptop hard drive.

All these will work for your computer. Taking the 15" powerbook apart is easy, and the hard drive sits right below the trackpad.

The link is not working any longer for hard drives. Could you update it. I also want to upgrade my PowerBook 1.67 15" hard drive. But, I wonder if the 80 Gig in it now would fit in my Graphite 466 clamshell?
I just used iFixit to replace the display in one Graphite and replace the dc in board on another one. It was wonderful!!!! And, I'm 68 a 68 year old granny.
