Powerbook 15" G4 1.67 now a non starter

Reply by jerrywolfe

I installed a larger hard drive in my up until then working fine powerbook G4. After doing so, it would not start up, or even give a sign that it had a battery in it. The battery charges, the power cord light changes from orange to green after a while, but pushing the start up button has no effect at all. I put in a replacement used main board that was working in another same model powerbook but it gave the same results, any idea of where to go next?

Thanks,

Jerry

Did you closely examine the connections on the start switch itself, and where the cable plugs in to the motherboard?

I agree with dentoni, lift up the top case and double-check the keyboard/trackpad cable connection on the motherboard. The start up button uses this cable to power the logic board.
