Mac Mini - No Airport

Reply by Sick128

I updated the memory and hard drive in the new Core 2 duo Mac Mini, follow instructions here. All seemed to go well, except that after re-installing the system, I can't activate airport. The network set up system preferences shows airport as turned off, but the "turn airport on" drop down is grayed out.

I re-opened the mini and carefully inspected the antennas for damage, but didn't see any. I'm thinking it's a software problem. Any suggestions other than a complete re-install of the system?

If it is a software problem, insert ur mac OS X disc 1 and restart ur computer while holding "c" on the keyboard. When the disk starts up select ur language and continue but do not hit continue on the second screen. Click on utilities in the top left corner and select disk utility. U can then repair ur hard drive or the OS X cd which will fix any software problems.

Most likely you bumped a connector while replacing items in the Mini. It's easy to do. I would go through and unplug and then replug the connectors, making sure they are all seated well. Doing the Disk Utility repair won't help this.

Speaking in actual English while not using numbers as letter? Priceless.

All I was saying was the disk utility repair has saved my mac once. But what Sarabian said is true to. Even though he said there were no problems in the mac when he opened it again...
