Welcome to the new iFixit community forum!

We hope that this will be a friendly place to swap repair tips, hang out with other tinkerers, debate rumors, and have a good time learning from each other.

We built this forum software in-house, and it is very much under development. We would love to hear (and act upon) your suggestions, so be vocal!

Warm Regards,

Kyle, Luke, and the iFixit Team

Thank you for being here! I just inherited an iBook G4 14" with a dead HD. I bought a new 120 GB drive and a 1 GB RAM chip and I am about to attempt the task with your help.

This is a great site, I love seeing just how to take the computer apart. I can keep all the screws straight.

I have a problem I am hope you can help with, I have a 12" iBook. When I physically tilt the screen/lid, the screen goes black in the middle position. When it is way back, it lights fine, when it is tilted down towards the keyboard, It works find too. I am sure it must be a wire or connector, but wiggling the wires I get nothing. Any ideas?

I'm sorry we don't have a screw guide up for the MacBook Pro yet. We're working on it. In the meantime, I suggest using an empty ice cube tray to keep track of your screws. You could number each slot with one of our step numbers, or just sort them by screw type.

Do you have any suggestions for improving our screw guide format? We're always looking for ways of making them better.

I am having trouble getting the case open on a iPod 2nd generation to replace the battery any pointers?

What tool are you using? I've found that a guitar pick works quite well for getting the case apart.

If you have appropriate tools, a method we have found effective is to insert the tool at the top of the iPod. From there, work your way around the corner to the side of the iPod. rocking the tool up and down on the side should help disengage the clips holding the case together.

An example of this procedure is seen in the first 4 steps of our iPod video guide.

If this does not solve the problem, remove the battery from the logic board for 10 minutes. This operation must be performed by an authorized service provider, because if not done properly can damage the logic board. some body can help me to know where's located the baterie in the logicboard thank's

No offense, but if you don't know where the battery is then you might not want to try this unless your iPod is not worth anything and you're just tinkering.

Hi, can anyone suggest what might be wrong with my MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo, it will not shut down or restart, just clears the dock and icons then the desktop stays with spinning pinwheel for ever until I hold down the power button. This is getting to be a problem as I can't update any software cos the auto-restart doesn't work. Have repaired disk with Disk Utility but still the same.

??
