I followed the instructions from this web site and the installation appeared to be a success. i installed OSX 10.5 on the new drive and every thing seemed to be fine but when i applied pressure to the top cover to the left of the touch pad (when picking up the computer) the computer would immediately turn off, when i left the computer on for about half an hour it got extremely hot and started to smell. when i turned the computer off and opened it up i found that the hard drive cable was a charred mess.
i've bought another hard drive cable and i am going to try the installation again but i would like to know where i might have gone wrong or hear some tips any one might have on preforming the install.
