I had recently taken my MB Pro 17" (2.4 GHz) to an Apple Store for an in-store replacement of my logic board. When I tried to use my Apple remote, the laptop will not acknowledge the remote in any situation. This problem started after my logic board was replaced.
I have tested the remote itself, and it works fine. I have also looked in System Preferences>Security as well as the System Profiler for an acknowledgement of my IR Receiver, but nothing shows up in either situation. I did not have this problem with my old logic board--and this happens regardless of whether or not I have installed 10.4.11 or 10.5.6.
I know that I'll have to check the logic board myself to see if the cable for the IR is even attached to the board, but I'm absolutely terrified to take the laptop apart. Is there anything else I can do (so I don't have to dissect the laptop), preferably freeware--that will tell me what is going on, or what can I do?
