Ipod touch stopped working

Reply by Jaime11

My Ipod stopped working a couple of weeks ago.

this is what happened: i pressed hold, then it froze and turned off. i couldnt turn it back on so i plugged it into the computer and it lit up with an apple symbol and turned on, so i started listening to it and it worked for 3 minutes and turned off.

it hasnt turned on since.

had this happened to anyone else?

do you happen to know how to fix it?

I don't know if this will help, but:

1.) Plug it into your computer when you try to work on it. But leave it plugged in for around an hour before you try to work on it, just in case the battery is so low that it neeeds to charge itself before it will even acknowledge a command.

2.) Make sure the hold button (however you do this on an iPod Touch, I'm not sure.) is off.

3.) When the iPod has had a chance to recharge a bit, try to turn it on again. I don't know how to do a force-reset on an iPod Touch (on mine it is hold down center key + menu for a few seconds) but that may very well fix your problem if you know how to do a force reset.

4.) Does iTunes acknowledge the iPod? at an extreme, if none of these work, you may have to restore your iPod to factory defaults. Just remember that doing that would wipe out everything on your iPod.

This link may also help.

Ooo... the dreaded white screen of doom...

Okay, there are a few steps you can follow in trying to recover a jacked up iTouch.

1) The hard restart... Hold the Home & Lock buttons for about 30 seconds. The Apple logo should come up and the iTouch should start back up. (if the hard restart doesn't get the whiteout screen to go away, hold the home button for about 30 seconds)

2) If step 1 didn't resolve the issue, repeat the procedure while your iTouch is attached to your PC/Mac. This action will/should push your iTouch into "recovery mode", this should allow you to replace the firmware/OS. You will want to use the restore to backup option, but if the problem persists you may need to repeat this procedure and treat it as a new iTouch. With luck, this should resolve the issue.

3) In the case that neither a hard restart nor a full restoration can resolve the issue, feel free to contact me directly so that I may walk you through a few more involved steps.

Knowledge is a gift, share it!

I've only used my Ipod touch 6 times and it stopped working. I am very angry, this cost my boyfriend $250.00 and it was a birthday gift.

Thanks Apple, what a great memory for my birthday
