Well the Logic Board may be damaged because sometimes you can connect the ipod to a computer o speakers and you´ll be able to synchronize or listen via speakers. Sometimes this issue happens cause there is a bad connection of the battery, Have you tried reseting the battery??
If you reset the battery and the problem persists maybe the battery connector is damaged, if you have another battery to try your ipod you can see if you have a battery problem.
If you try all of those tests and the problem persists then the logic board is probably damaged even if you don´t see physical damage. Sometimes ESD (electrostatic discharge) damages bards and circuits.
Good Luck!!!
