LCD Cover Alignment - Macbook Core 2 Duo Full Case Replacement

Reply by xtian

Will someone who has performed a LCD replacement comment about aligning the LCD cover/Lid to the bottom case?

I replaced the LCD lid/cover and the alignment is off by 1/8in approximately. I read the LCD replacement tutorial; however, there was no mention of this finishing touch.

Hello, i have only done a powerbook and a few Ibook lcds, but the first one I did I had to re-do because it was not matching up. What I found was there is a little nub that the display hinge must fit onto next to the screw hole for the screen hinge. To me, seams like the hinge slides in from the back as opposed to pulling straight up per directions. So I would check that, also compare your re routing of the cabling from under and around the hinges to a photo if possible to be certain you got it right.

If it all looks good, I can tell you that I have had units that just don't fit well together. You know you could always harvest whatever part went wrong with the original display and fix your old one and put it back on. It is not any harder that what you have done and you can find directions if you look.

You know, I don't know if it is possible to bend the internal frame if the display was broken from a fall, maybe someone else can tell us. I am still pretty new at this myself.

Good Luck, hope you get it figured out.

Thats a good idea. I thought it might also be due to the order I screwed down the hinges. Just a thought.

It may be one of two things. Its hard to tell, but the hinge looks like it is bent slightly. I bought the laptop used so I do not know its history, however the lid and base aligned fine before I made the case switches. Chris
