MacBook Pro Keyboard & Trackpad Dead

Reply by ltkristian

I have been experiencing problems with my keyboard and trackpad not working on my MacBook Pro 2.2. Initially, neither would work sometimes after rebooting or after I put it to sleep. Typically I would restart the computer with the power button a couple of times and eventually they would work properly again. Now I can't get them to work at all. I am successfully using a USB connected mouse and keyboard right now.

I have read some apple support threads where customers had to replace both their trackpad and their keyboard. Should I start by replacing the upper case assembly first?

Interesting....

I would start with the upper case assembly, as it will replace the board responsible for transmitting the keyboard and trackpad info to the logic board.

Thanks for your help, my buddy had a refurbished upper case assembly. I installed the refurbished upper case assembly and everything is working well.

To me it happened with a macbook.

I have solved so incredibly with a piece of paper :

i go with lorfuma but it is not permanent...mine died again due to sticky paper...i would suggest getting it fixed...I HOPE that Ifixit.com can release an indepth repair on fixing this issue...so many people like me and many others are having the same issue..

SO please release a Do it Yourself repair manual on this...
