Thanks for the advice. Are you saying not to use a car charger? I was not using a docking station in the car. I was using a charging cable from lighter supply to dock connector on the iPhone, not a docking station. Can you clarify? I do realize these devices are real difficult to repair. The instructions don't tell you how to put it back together. As far as new iPhone, you are right, new 2 year contract, but I think I can get the cheaper price. I may wait to see what the prices are next after new phones are announced.
