Hi,
if water comes into the iPod its important to get it out fast. The best way to do so, without damaging the iPod any further, is to open and disassamble the iPod.
Dry the parts very carefully with a.e. a dry cloth. After that put the parts at a dry warm place and let them dry for about a week. then put the parts back together and try if it works.
Dont even think about using a hot air pistol, microwave, oven a.s.o to speed things up!
Its hard to say that your iPod could be fixed or not, that depends on how much damage the water did to your iPod.

I had a friend who bought an iphone where the original owner dropped his iphone in water. He reported it would not turn on or charge. My friend burried the iphone in a bag of uncooked rice for a week, and when revisited it, it turned on. The rice had not only dried, but obsorbed the moisture in parts he was unable to get to. I would suggest you do the same when this happens, and don't even think about rushing. Of course every situation is different, but the important thing is never to introduce electricity to anything that was just in water till all water is out, and dried away.
If that does not work, you may have connected it too soon causing enough damage to never work again.
Good Luck.
