The Sleep switch is in the lower left area.. - You can open the unit an remove it.. see if the computer runs normally without it..

Step 13 shows the battery connector.. which is also the sleep / read switch for the macbook..
computer will run without it.. just wont be able to run off battery or sleep when closed.
