Identification ¶
From the 1930s to the 1950s, cruiser bicycles--also commonly referred to as beach cruisers--were the most popular bikes in America. Cruisers are easily identified by the shape of their frames, which are uncomplicated in structure, but designed with style in mind. Riders sit upright in comfortable seats and handlebars are placed conveniently at arm's reach. Cruiser bikes sit on large balloon tires, and have single-speed gear mechanisms.
