My Problem

Existing fan was loud

My Fix

The repair went according to instructions. I like how all the different screws are identified. Made it really easy for reinstallation.

My Advice

Ifixit shows instructions on how to remove the fan from the heatsink but does not offer the option of buy the fan only. I had to buy the heatsink and fan combo with the thermal paste. fan only only per instructions would be alot more cost efficient

My Problem

My PS3 was agoner

My Fix

Following the guides it was a snap, I can't believe I actually did this on my own

My Advice

Definitely have a screw tray to keep them organized and compartmentalized

My Problem

Water spil

My Fix

it more time, do to the delegate componates

My Advice

thank you ifixit you really great

My Problem

I started getting 3 beeps when I turned the machine on. I was told it was a memory problem and that I would have to replace the logic board. I had heard that replacing the thermal paste may resolve the issue, so I tried it first.

My Fix

The repair process went great. I did not need to go through as many steps, as the heat sink is easily removed without removing the battery and hard drive. The repair did not work though. It appears to be an actual memory problem that will require a new logic board.

My Advice

Definitely try this repair first, as it will only set you back <$20. A new logic board runs around $600.

My Problem

my fan stopped working, and the computer is 6 years old so i decided to replace the thermal paste under the heat sink as well. So I decided to replace the fan and thermal paste.

My Fix

The repair went really well over all

My Advice

I wish the guide had mentioned peeling back the black felt tape when you pull the fan out. I ripped it before I realized i needed to scrape it off the old fan.

My Problem

MacBook Core 2 Duo, 2Ghz, Black model, Late 2006, A1181.

Bluetooth not found, Heat on cpu-core up to 90 degrees Celsius, Fan got noisy and Dvd not accepting or ejecting disks.

I don't know ware the magic has gone. It's not here any more.

My Fix

After a "practice run" before I got my parts everything went smooth. Thanks to the different guides on iFixit all the repairs felt solid. UNTIL... I booted up my machine and everything worked great I thought. Time for the real TEST, the DVD Drive. It did not accept my disk! Something was blocking the entry. I finally got a disk inside by forcing it in there, not a god idea. The disk mounted on the desktop but now something was blocking it from ejecting. I let my mac and myself get some rest over the night and in the morning I opened the mac again to physically remove the disk from the drive. After reinserting the dvd drive and booting my mac it accepts and ejects disks properly. Now the Magic is back!!

My Advice

My advice is to not be scared by all the Magic hiding inside your device. By following the guides you are safe(er) than just going on your own.

My Problem

I'm an audio engineer and I had for a long time been really bugged by the persistent and burdening murmuring of my laptop. Not knowing a quick fix I searched for the symptoms and was able to isolate the probability of it being a fan... the right fan. Now I needed a solution.

My Fix

I was thrilled to find ifixit.com's easy step-by-step instructions and parts supply readily available and arrived in two days from order with standard delivery for under $25. The only additional supply I needed to purchase was a hairdryer since I had the hex and mini screwdriver from a previous repair. I'd never removed a logic board before, and I'm working on a machine that's 6 years old so naturally I was a little concerned about playing around with the internals, but the surgery was a blinding success and came in at under 3 hours work. Now I'm back in the studio and fearless of being the background "tone".

My Advice

Take your time with these repairs, be gentle with your machine and give yourself ample light and a clean workspace.

My Problem

The old lower case was dented and bend.

My Fix

Went well. Thanks to your free guides!!

My Advice

Don't forget to get the infra-red eye out of the old lower case. It didn't come with the new one, and the guide didn't mention it.

My Problem

had to replace 2 HD in 1 year old imac, only can use 1 kind and it is junk.

My Fix

My Advice
