Droid Bionic xt875: lcd replacement won't boot up

My lcd has cracked so i ordered a replacement lcd. Once installed the phone (droid bionic) does not want to boot, it powers on and I get the Motorola logo window but it’s stock at this window, seems like it just keeps loading and loading and and never goes further. I thought it was the connection at first but after trying yet another screen the same problem remains, when i plug in the original damaged screen the phone is able to boot up and function correctly. So at this point i am sure that it’s not the connection problem but maybe compatibility issue I’m guessing. i have tried different screen models xt865 and xt875 and get the same issue on both. I’ve checked the connections thoroughly and they are fine. I never came across this issue so I’m thinking that the screen is not compatible since when i put on the original lcd it works fine. Looking for a way to boot it up, any suggestions would be appreciated

iPhone 3GS: Power button replacement not working

Hi,

I did already fixed some Iphones, but this time I have no clue whats wrong. I replaced the powerbutton from an 3GS, the silverbutton was gone...(but still working)...

So I replaced the button like explained in the guide, but the new button does not move up or down, it is just stuck. The guide says the metal handle has to face down, I did all that. I can use the screws again to fix it and all, still the button itself is not moving/working? Anyone got an idea? I guess I simply overlooked something.

iPod 5th Generation (Video): No power charging, no other signs as well,

Hi,

got an Ipod which is not giving any signs at all.

When connected to my Mac nothing happens, same when connected to the power charger. Charging cables have been changed, several other mac's tried as well- no reaction.

Reset didn't work since the Ipod doesnt give any signs of...Display is off, no acustic noise from the HD, nothing!

Could it be that the battery is down and I nead to replace it or do you guys think it is the LB or HD?

how can I figure out if its the battery?

Best from Berlin

Tomi

Update

Hi,

I have installed the new battery, and managed to get it running, but... Here is the full story:

I have connected the Ipod with the new battery to the wall plug before putting the cases together again, to see if the battery is working. The display was showing the usual signs (first the apple, then the informationt that the battery is very low and that it will take some time to load and so on... I even managed to have the menue popping up). It wasnt even for a minute loading. So everything seemed to be OK to me before putting the two cases together. So I decided to put the cover back and assemble it. So I did, and nothing was going again when I wanted to continue to charge immediately after!!!

I did rejoined it again, checked the connections (battery ribbon cable and the second one that I have removed according to ur manual) and the result is a empty but some kind of half shining and glimmering display with a peep tone like when a baby cry!!! (I guess the hard drive is trying to pick it up) from within the device when the charging cable is connected.

I have left it charging for some time- no change: the display is half shining, glimmering and you can hear a very low peep noise from the HD I guess. Removing the charger cable: the display gets darker, the peep noise lower, it looks like the battery has picked up some power and slowly becoming empty.

I have tried to wiggle a bit on the battery ribbon cable/ brown connector with the result that the peep noise is quite high when the device/ ribbon cable gets connected again and then the noise start falling down.

This morning I have connected the ribbon cable to the brown connector and for a second a saw the very low battery sign on the display, after that the usual glimmering and empty display...

I guess the new battery is maybe not good or correct or whatever. Could it b the logical board or something else?

Thanks

Tomi

Update

PowerBook G4 Aluminum 17" Troubleshooting: Why wont my PowerBook g4 recognise startup disk?

Recently, the hard drive in my powerbook g4 started making horrible clicking noises, I immediately turned it off. When I turned it back on, it wouldn't boot. I just got an image of a folder with a question mark flashing on it. After doing some research I came to the conclusion that the hard drive must need replacing, so i ordered a new one from ifixit and installed it but now it seems as though I can't install the os from a boot disk.

I insert the only install disk I have which is actually for my MacBook Pro (this could be the problem-I don't have the original one as this is a second hand lap top) and hold down "option" as it starts up and this is the screen that greets me:

What am I doing wrong? Did I need to replace the hard drive? Do I need a different os install disk?

It should also be noted that it's a very old laptop (I think circa 2004) so I have also been wondering if perhaps the dvd drive is faulty or can't read the disk that the os install is on.

iPod Touch 4th Generation: Can Backlight be Repaired?

My sons iPod went through the washer. It still works except for the backlight. It will sync, it will unlock, play sounds, etc just just no backlight.

Warranty is useless so I've got nothing to lose. I haven't found a "6R8 coil" like repair for the 4th Gen Touch.

If I need to replace an entire board, which one? If there is a component to replace, which one? I have the skills to do the work, just need an idea where to start.

Thanks!

Update

@oldturkey03 Depends on what you mean by the backlight or LCD. I see no backlight at all in this Touch. If I put a flashlight on the screen I can see the icons on the LCD, can navigate through different apps and settings, and verified that the brightness settings are at max with auto brightness both off and on. Any settings here change nothing and seeing what is on the screen is unchanged.

I appreciate any ideas you have. Believe me, you aren't going to hurt my feelings. The IC that you have pointed me to is a good idea, unfortunately the pics point show locations on an iPhone, not the iPod (if it exists).

With nothing to lose, I took the unit apart tonight got out the alcohol and cleaned like a mad man. Got it all back together and no change. Unfortunately I failed to see your post until after I got the unit back together. Had I read up beforehand I could have looked for a similar IC. Too bad it's unmarked.

Again, other ideas are appreciated. I wish there was a way to determine if the LCD/LED sandwich was faulty or a component on a board was bad. I have sent this unit into iRESq and they said it wasn't worth the repair. Had I been smart I would have asked for more details, was it the mainboard or the LCD. I should call them back tomorrow and find out. I'd presume the mainboard.

It's kind of a bummer how little info there is on these units when the iPhones and previous gens of the Touch have tons of info.

Thanks again!

Hellow,

I just recently upgraded my Ipod video(5.5) to a 240gb toshiba hard drive. After much much time troubleshooting this issues (motherboard compatibility, f-disk/diagnostic on the hard drive, and format/reboots) I have discovered the my ipod will not regularly turn on??? I always have to hold the center and menu button for for the ipod to boot. My music an language setting will still be available but I can't regularly turn on/off. The Hold switch does function but the ipod still has to be booted every time. Or after say 30+minutes of OFF/in-active use.

Any ideas?

Also I did discover how to unlock the old 80gb mac hard drive. But sadly it will only work with unix/linux red hat. Mac can recognize it but will not be able to mount the full drive. (just the tiny partition it can see :-)

MacBook Unibody Model A1278: I have a bad memory slot

I'm working on a MacBook Pro 13" 2.4GHz (Mid-2010) that has a beep every 5 seconds. After a bit of troubleshooting I found that the top memory slot is bad. The MacBook works fine with each 2GB memory module (installed one at a time) in the bottom slot. Anything installed in the top slot causes the beeping error. I have tried cleaning the pins of the slot with Isopropyl Alcohol and compressed air. Instead of replacing the Mother Board, I thought why not just run it with memory only in the bottom memory slot and instead of only 2GB, put in a 4GB module. It won't boot with the 4GB module installed. It hangs on the spinning sprocket. Normally, nobody would run a MacBook on a 0+4 configuration, but has anybody tried? I either have a bad memory stick or it's not possible. It runs fine in a 0+2 configuration.

iPhone 4S: Status led in iPhone?

In step 10 of the teardown you say, "What appears to be the ambient light sensor and status LED comes off the display assembly."

Could you explain what the "status led" is? Is it equivalent to a notification led?

Thanks.
