Ethernet port seems not to be working..

History

Couple days ago my internet stop working. I use a ethernet cable to get as much internet speed as i can. I replaced the ethernet cable and still cant get internet unless i use wireless. I know my router works i tired a different Mac. I did a lot of looking around for info but no such luck. Can anyone help. I pay alot for high internet speed that i need for work and cant use it because of wireless.

First check under System Preferences:Network that you didn't delete or disable your Ethernet service. Next under Applications->Utilities->System Profiler:Hardware-Ethernet cards ensure your device shows up. If those are copacetic look at the ends of your Ethernet cable (connector) to ensure it's locking tang is (locking in).

Check where you said and it shows that ethernet card connected. Looked at the connector of my cable and it looks good and it is locking in. Also check the port its self, blew it out and check the copper connectors and everything looks right. Could the port itself be disconnected inside the Mac.

A workaround is to get a USB Ethernet Dongle... you can't DIY repair a port connection to a logic board.
