Wireless will only connect withing 10 feet of router

History

What might be the problem? I bought from a guy who installed a 2.33 duo processor and a 320 drive but when trying to connect to the internet I have to be very close for wireless to pick up. Is this the areial or airport card?

Could be router setting

Have you tried auto channel or switching broadcast channels? Could be interference from "noisy" electronics or other nearby wireless devices.
