Dropping 2 bars with metallic back on 4 & 4S

History

Is anyone else losing bars (cell signal) with the metallic front/back?

I'm consistently losing 2 back with metallic backs and fear that I'm not getting the best signal with the metallic fronts.

I'm confident this is an issue with the backs, yet unsure about the fronts. What has your experience been?

I understand that the signal has trouble penetrating the metal. That is why the ipod touch 2nd and 3rd gen have a plastic window over the wifi cable to increase signal. The signal works fine through plastic or glass.
