My son's 3DS was exposed to water a few weeks ago. He was playing under a picnic shelter when a freak storm came in. It wasn't submerged, just sprayed with rain.

It powers on and the screens come on, but it will flash rapidly between highlighting 2 icons on the screen. It is as if someone is tapping between the up-down buttons as fast as they can. If I hold the control wheel left of right, the flashing will stop, but as soon as I release the toggling between 2 icons starts up again.

It does respond when a game card is inserted, but the flashing/toggling continues on whatever screen is selected.

I have the tools to DIY and would love to do so before my son comes home from camp Friday, but if I must send it off I suppose that's better than nothing. I just don't have enough experience with this device to know where to start.
