Pixel error, most likely from DLP mirror/wheel failure

Hi everybody.
I own a Acer P5290 projector which was doing a good job until recently it started showing error pixels (white or black pixels where there should be color).
Doing some research I found, that it must be a error within the DLP unit, either mirrors or wheel.
Now my question:
Does any of you have experience with a fix like that? Where should I get supplies and are there good ways do be sure about the diagnosis?
I am glad for any help and promise to document the fix if i dare to attempt it :-)
