Where can I get a 3.3 mm silver screw?

History

While replacing the optical drive in my MacBook Pro I dropped and lost one of the 3.3 mm silver screws that holds the drive in place. Without it the drive is out of alignment and won't accept disks. If I open the case and hold the bracket down in that spot, it works just fine, so the drive is OK. But where can I find a replacement for that screw?

Thanks,

Ralph Dosser

Did the screw slide under the logic board?

If so you can't leave it as it can short the underside of the board.

Have you used a magnet to search around the area you dropped the screw?

You could try a drop of superglue; remembering to dissolve it if you have to remove the drive later.

Any hobby stores near you?

Good Luck,

N.

No, it definitely flew away from the work area. I did search with my sweeping magnet, but no luck. I thought about superglue, but was worried about having to remove it later. Your point about solvent is a good one. We do have a hobby store - good tip, I'll pay them a visit. Thanks, R

I am having a difficult time finding a screw for the bottom of my Mac. One of the main screws on the bottom has somehow come loose and Mac will not replace these.
