Does a drive caddy for the optical bay interfere with the subwoofer?

Yesterday I got my new MacBook Pro. Today I replaced the optical drive with a hard drive using a hard drive caddy for the optical bay.

Since I did this, I have noticed a distinct lack of mid and bass in the sound of the speakers. Is it a known issue that a hard drive caddy could interfere with the waveguide for the subwoofer - or is it more likely that I have accidentally dislodged a connector?
