Display problem. No image.

History

IMac screen flicks only two times after start than going

black. Only 1 and 2 Diagnostic LED lights up. LED #3

video card never lights up. Is it capacitors problem ?

Checked with external monitor- the same , no image.

the video card is integral to the logic board and can't be replaced easily. I've had 2 with these symptoms and decided to sell for parts as the cost of a reball (which is the only true repair apart from a new chip) is expensive. I did try a simple reflow with a hot air gun with no change on one and the other "lived" for 25 minutes of gaming before dying...

Yes- this is a BGA chip problem. I tried to reflow a ATI X600 chip but no luck. Reball did not go thru because of contact damage on the board. Now looking for the new logic board. Thanks

It could be a video card/logic board problem so step one connect to an external monitor, if that works your video/logic board is ok and your problem could be inverter or backlight. For more information see this Question and Answers.

You would have to examine the capacitors to know if they are bad-can't do that via text
